Mai-ool Sedip

Mai-ool Sedip sings all styles of Tuvan throat singing and plays all the traditional Tuvan instruments, specializing in the byzaanchy. His voice, with its unusual depth and warmth, is considered exceptional in Tuva and beyond.

Mai-ool Sedip was born in 1982 in Ak-Dovurak. The men in his family were all famous throat singers. From an early age, he learned singing secret and rare melodies from his grandfather and ancient songs from his grandmother. Mai-ool earned a B.A. in National Instruments from the Kyzyl Arts College. He has toured in Russia, Europe, and the United States.

Mai-ool was a member of Alash from its founding until 2008.
